Long Beach Kroc Center - "Building the Dream in Long Beach"

The Long Beach Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located in the 6th District of Long Beach, will offer more than 100 programs for toddlers, teens, parents, and senior citizens. There will also be a full-service recreation center, competition-sized swimming pools, walk-along outdoor trail, soccer fields, performing arts complex, gymnastics center, art studio, culinary arts center, computer learning lab, fully equipped fitness center and a 1,000-seat outdoor amphitheater.

Kroc Center Mission:

The mission of the Long Beach Kroc Corps Community Center is comprehensive as well as transformational: to support the development of the mind, body and soul of the Long Beach community at virtually every stage of their lives. From toddlers participating in daycare, to youth involved in sports and recreation programs. Adults will have a variety of classes to choose from and specialized programs will help keep seniors active and involved with the new generations using the facility. Some 74,000 people — 27,000 of them under 18 — live within a one-mile radius of the planned site, which is on Walnut Ave and Pacific Coast Highway at the location of an area known as the Hamilton Bowl.

Kroc Center Location:

The Long Beach Kroc Center will be located at the Hamilton Bowl (a.k.a. Chittick Field) at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Walnut Ave in Long Beach, California. The Hamilton Bowl has a unique history in the city of Long Beach. Originally, land bounded by Atlantic Avenue (on the west), Redondo Avenue (on the east), 4th Street (on the south) to Willow Street (on the north) was a large bowl area.
