Where is the facility located?
The Hamilton Bowl (a.k.a. Chittick Field) is at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Walnut Ave in Long Beach, California. It is the future home of the Long Beach Kroc Center.

Who is the owner and who will provide facility management?
The Salvation Army. The Salvation army will cover ongoing maintenance and operation of the Kroc Center.  Operating costs will be covered by a permanent endowment, and the remainder of the funds will be covered by memberships fees, rentals, and group events.

Why does the facility come with a matching endowment?
It was Joan Kroc's intention that a Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center would be sustainable and her research showed that an endowment would be necessary for a community center to operate in the black.

What is the facility's size?
168,000 square feet of building space on 19 acres.

Who are the architects?
Heery International

Approximately how many people use the center daily?
The Long Beach Kroc Center expects to serve over 4,000 individuals on a daily basis.

Can families who can't afford the membership fees be able to use the Kroc Center facilities?
Absolutely. The Kroc Center will be available to everyone in the community. Those who cannot afford the full fee can apply for a scholarship. It was the intent of Joan Kroc and The Salvation Army to provide equal access to the Kroc Center to all members of the community. No individual will be turned away from using the facility.

What kinds of programs will the Kroc Center offer?
With a facility of this magnitude, the possibilities are practically endless. Recreational and community programs will be available to people of all ages—children, families, teenagers, and seniors. New programs will be introduced frequently based on member needs and requests.

If I make a donation, will it be tax deductible?
Yes, and The Salvation Army is a registered 501(c-3) non-profit. All donations are tax deductible. Contact the Kroc Center Development office about making a donation to the project.
